Traffic Safety Program

Safe Winter Driving Tips:

Winter storms can cause dangerous driving conditions. The best advice for driving during snowy and icy conditions is to use caution. If you really don't need to go out then please stay inside. If you have to leave the house, take your serenity and patience with you. Be sure to warm up the car so the defroster has a chance to clear the windows. Clear ice and snow from your vehicle (including the roof) for improved visibility and for the safety of the motorists sharing the road with you. Always match your speed to the road conditions. Don't try to pass or weave in and out of traffic. Be sure to leave plenty of room between your vehicle and the one ahead of you. Pay attention to what other drivers are doing. It is difficult to stop quickly on snowy and/or icy roads. Remember there is a difference in the way regular brakes and ABS brakes are used. It is best to familiarize yourself with the braking systems o! the vehicle you drive before you need to make a quick stop. For more information on braking systems visit www.safeny.com. Remember bridges and ramps freeze before road surfaces, so drive slowly.

And no matter what the weather conditions are like, always make sure that each passenger is properly buckled in the car.
