Leaders

Through bipartisanship, Chairman Whalen hopes to achieve all of the goals of the 20th Broome County Legislature. Greater accountability to taxpayers, more accessible government for residents, government efficiency, and controlling of spending will be top priorities as this Legislature carries out its duties in 2007.

This Legislature will face many difficult subjects such as: determining what the county can do to alleviate the chances of future flooding; taming skyrocketing health care costs; reviewing lobbying practices with government contractors, and costs associated with county-operated Willow Point Nursing Home. With that in mind, long-term economic viability of this community, not party affiliation, will be the driving force behind decision making.
