Brian Mather's (R) legislative district encompasses the western half of the Town of Vestal.
Mr. Mather has been elected to seven consecutive legislative terms. His responsibilities include his membership on the Finance Committee and the Personnel Committee. Legislator Mather previously Chaired the county's Finance Committee.
Brian's high level of constituent service is reflected in some of the key legislation he has helped to adopt, such as: enacting a 'Save the Child' gun safety program that distributed free gun locks; implementing a Tax Stabilization Fund; upgrading the Greater Binghamton Airport; using tobacco settlement monies to help fund a health clinic; and centralizing Health Department locations to lower costs and provide more accessible care.
In addition to serving on the Broome County Legislature, Brian Mather's record of public service includes four years as a Vestal Town Board member, and his active service since 1966 as a Vestal volunteer fireman.
Brian has been a State Farm agent for 46 years, and has his business located on Front Street in Vestal. He and his wife, Margie, reside at 301 Vandervort Avenue in the Town of Vestal. They have four adult children and eight grandchildren.
