Vestal Water District #1 Boil Water Advisory Lifted

BINGHAMTON, NY - The Broome County Health Department and the Town of Vestal are lifting the boil water advisory for Vestal Water District #1 at 8:00 a.m. as of Saturday, September 27, 2003.

Customers of the Town of Vestal Water District #1 were notified on September 25, 2003 of a problem with their drinking water and were advised to boil any water used for drinking or cooking. The Town of Vestal Water Department reports that the problem has been corrected and it is no longer necessary to boil water. Chlorine levels briefly dropped to below minimum standards out of Well 1-2a treatment facility. All tests in the distribution system still indicated the presence of Chlorine, however, as a precaution to insure the safety and quality of water to the residents and businesses, a boil water advisory was issued. A total of sixteen tests were taken in District #1 alone, an aggressive approach to insure safe drinking water. All tests were clear of any bacteria.
